May 1968 in Paris: Within a few days, the revolt of the Parisian students expanded to a nationwide general strike, which brought public life to a halt.
The struggle was also supported creatively with posters and leaflets of the "Atelier populaire", which has been set up in the occupied Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Approximately 350 different posters were designed and produced there collectively. Their biting criticism of the existing conditions and visions of a new emancipated society had an effect on the streets of Paris. Even today, the aggressive expressiveness of the designs is still noticeable.
