Thomas Mann (6 June 1875 - 12 August 1955) stands as one of the greatest German writers of all time.

Among his most memorable works are "Buddenbrooks" (1901), the novella "Death in Venice" (1912), "The Magic Mountain" (1924), and "Doctor Faustus" (1947).

He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929.
