Gustav Klimt (1862 - 1918)
February 2018 will mark the 100th year since the passing of Austrian Symbolist painter, Gustav Klimt.

Gustav Klimt was the first president of the Vienna Secessionists, who resigned from the Association of Austrian Artists. He is perhaps best known for his opulently gilded Art Nouveau portraits that epitomise fin-de-siècle Vienna. Beginning as a humble decorative commission-based painter, Klimt soon came to shock the traditional arts sphere of Vienna, with his transgressive and forthrightly erotic masterpieces.
