Lyonel Charles Adrian Feininger (1871 - 1956)
17th July 2021 - 150th Birthday.
German-American painter, designer and caricaturist Lyonel Feininger was born on 17th July 1871 (died 13th January 1956).
As early as 1909 Feininger became a member of the Berlin Secession and
when Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus in Germany in 1919, Feininger was his first faculty appointment, and became the master artist in charge of the printmaking workshop.
Today Feininger is considered one of the most important figures of classic modernist art.
