CHINA - Red Guards
The Red Guards
were a paramilitary and social movement mobilised by Mao Zedong as part of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) in the People's Republic of China. This movement consisted mostly of urban youths, who strove to spread Mao's ideology in the rural communities of China and whose aim it was to eradicate the so-called "Four Olds": Old Customs, Old Culture, Old Habits, and Old Ideas.
