March 2017 sees 100 years since the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II (18 May 1868 – 17 July 1918), the last emperor of Russia.

When Nicholas II of Russia abdicated following the "February Revolution" of 1917, he brought an end to three centuries of Romanov rule.
