Nena – singer, Germany
Nena, born on March 24th, 1960 as Gabriele Susanne Kerner in Hagen, is considered one of the most successful singers in Germany. After the dissolution of her first band The Stripes, Nena went to West Berlin with her friend Rolf Brendel and founded the band “Nena”. In May 1982 the single “Just a Dream” appears, which became a smash hit in Germany. In January 1983 the single “99 Red Balloons” becomes a worldwide mega hit.
In April 1987 the band split up and Nena subsequently published numerous solo albums, including albums with children’s songs. In addition to her success as a singer, she also starred in several films and was a coach for the successful German vocal casting show “The Voice of Germany” (2011–2014). Nena lives with her family in Hamburg.
