Magic, old traditions and modernity,
with its rapidly growing economy today.
1498, after the Portuguese Vasco da Gama (about 1469 - 1524)
had discovered the sea route to India, the Portuguese began to establish trading posts on the west coast of the subcontinent. The British, Dutch and French followed, all in search of the coveted spices of India, but also cotton, indigo, silk and saltpetre ... .
The centuries-long exploitation of raw materials by Europeans had catastrophic consequences for India.
In 1946 the pressure was exerted on the
Colonial Power Great Britain
the country as quickly as possible
to be released into independence
more and more.
On August 15, 1947
the end of the colonial era
proclaims the independence of India!
Mahadma Gandhi (1869 - 1949) Motor and heart of the independence movement of India, whose credo was always 'no cooperation with the British and non-violent resistance', forced the colonial power again and again by spectacular actions of civil disobedience to the negotiating table.
