Bauhaus in Israel
The so-called "White City" in Tel Aviv was made a World Heritage Site in 2003. More than 4000 buildings were mainly designed and built by students of the Bauhaus school who left Europe for Palestine in the 1930s and 1940s, fleeing from the Nazis. Bauhaus ideas of combining art and craft in architecture worked in unison with the desire to build a better, more equal society in the Promised Land.

We look at the Bauhaus in Israel today and in the past.
