Musical portraits by Anne Purkiss
Born in Chemnitz, Germany,
Anne Purkiss
moved to England in 1984, where she worked at the London bureau of Associated Press, later becoming a freelance photographer. Having taken commissions for government agencies and museums, her photographs are held in a number of public collections, including the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Academy library and the archive of the Royal Society London.
As a personal interest, Anne documents people in the context of their environment and their occupations. Her collection of British portraits spans more than thirty years, featuring people who inspire through their work and their ideas.
akg-images’ collections hold a wide range of Anne’s work, including
portraits of some of the RA's most prominent artists
, as well as portraits of writers and scientists, including many Nobel Prize winners. Today we are happy to present a new selection of portraits of musicians and composers by Anne Purkiss, which were previously available via Lebrecht Music & Arts Photo Library.
