Max Beckmann (1884 - 1950)
The Leipzig-born painter, graphic artist, sculptor, author and university teacher Max Carl Friedrich Beckmann had a major influence on modernist painting. In his early years Beckmann was a member of the Berlin Secession, later rather a loner.
