The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat (Hodder & Stoughton)

The image behind this book cover shows three young women enjoying a day out at a fair in Paris in the early Sixties.

Their leisurely stroll and billowing skirts were captured by French-Hungarian photographer Paul Almasy, whose portraits and journalistic images are widely known for their narrative quality and charm.

An surprising example of what can be done with the images we supply – keeping the figures but adding colour, style, setting – we at akg-images were very impressed with how well this one works!

About the image:

Come meet the “Supremes”: Clarice, Barbara Jean and Odette. The setting is Plainview, small-town Indiana, where the most exciting place to go is... Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat.

The diner is also the one constant in the lives of the three women, whose close friendship has seen them through 40 years’ worth of marriage, children, affairs and pecan pie.

This witty, charming debut novel by professional cellist Edward Kelsey Moore reminds us of the power and beauty of female friendship.

When Hodder & Stoughton sourced cover pictures for this paperback edition (published March 2013), we were able to provide an original image which might surprise you – this just goes to show what amazing graphic designers can do!
