World War One
2018 will mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. From 2014 to 2018, people across the globe have come together to commemorate those who lived, fought and in many cases died during this global conflict.
Since 2014, we have been working hard on a digitisation project to research and document the personal photograph albums of soldiers and families caught up in the Great War. We have also been researching deep into our own archives and those of our partner agencies to add to our already extensive collection of images from the period.
These selections of images, chosen especially by our researchers in London, focus on the First World War from beginning to conclusion. Many images are available exclusively through akg-images, with many more related to the topics available on our website.
