Wolf Hall
The grandeur and intrigue of the court of King Henry VIII are brought to life in Hilary Mantel's Booker Prize-winning novels "Wolf Hall" and "Bring up the Bodies". Stage and television adaptations have followed, the latter starring Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis and Claire Foy as Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII and the doomed Anne Boleyn.

Inspired by the books and their adaptations, we have chosen this selection of images from the archive. Alongside portraits of many of the main historical figures, we have also chosen pictures evocative of the settings and the period.
