June 2017
In June's newsletter we celebrate a series of themes as diverse and eclectic as is the akg-images collection.

In our regular series on colour and decades, we highlight the colour Blue and the 1940s.

Moving on to June anniversaries: we start with the 200th anniversary of the invention of the "Dandy Horse" and end with the 25th anniversary of David Lynch's cult classic, Twin Peaks by way of a picture essay in tribute to the 80th wedding anniversary of Edward Windsor and Wallis Simpson.

In London, June sees the National Portrait Gallery's annual BP Portrait Award. To mark this important event and further honour the art of the Portrait, we explore some of our collection's most expressive portraits.

To round things off we offer, Elephants! From elephant portraiture and reportage, to 21st century elephant architecture we illustrate the elephant in visual language and highlight the issues facing its continued survival.
