has a large collection of amazing stereoscopic images
from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Two slightly different images, printed side-by-side, are viewed through a special pair of glasses and the differences in the images create an illusion of depth in the viewer's brain - it's quite an experience! We've chosen six images from the archive and, using some computer trickery to flip between the two separate images as quickly as possible, you should get some sense of the 3D effect possible with the stereoscopic viewer.
