Markus Hilbich has been a freelance photographer since graduating from the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Photographie in Munich in 1982, specialising in architectural photography as well as photographing sculpture and fine art. Since 1991, he has been working increasingly on travel photography, concentrating on art historical subjects and has been the sole photographer on a number of heavily illustrated guide books, including works on Brussels, Barcelona and Venice, as well as contributing to a wide range of art historical publications and travel guides.
